With our leak-proof underwear, you can go through the day and night feeling free to move without stress. Discover your ideal anti-leak underwear with our guidance and replace pads, tampons, and panty liners for 8 to 10 hours.
When do you use anti-leak underwear?
Anti-leak underwear is designed for every menstruating woman. It’s a comfortable solution for adolescent girls who experience their first period, but it’s also beneficial for women who have been dealing with menstruation for years. After giving birth or if you experience sweat, discharge, or light urine leakage, you can also use our anti-leak underwear. In other words, Moodies also serves as incontinence underwear. In summary, we have suitable leak-proof underwear for everyone. It can absorb up to 35 ml of fluid:
Before, during, and after your menstruation;
Discharge;
Urine leakage/light incontinence;
After a labia operation and
After giving birth.
How does our leak-proof underwear work?
Does leak-proof underwear feel wet? No! That’s a reassuring thought, isn’t it? It’s not pleasant to have a constantly damp crotch. The first layer of the leak-proof underwear quickly wicks away moisture, keeping the fabric dry. The middle layer absorbs moisture, fights bacteria, and prevents odors, keeping you dry and fresh. And the third layer is an additional water-resistant layer.
Different types of leak-proof underwear for women
We offer various styles and colors of leak-proof underwear. Choose your favorite style. For summer days, we have lighter colors in the form of a beige seamless hiphugger, and for sleeping and exercising, a bamboo menstruation panty is perfect. We also have seamless leak-proof panties and panties with lace. For teenagers, we even have a special line with 3 bamboo models. Select from different colors, a bold style, or a more delicate one.
In addition to different styles and colors of anti-leak underwear, we also categorize the leak-proof panties into six different levels of absorption, ranging from light to super. Check out our absorption page or find your perfect match with our guidance. Answer a few questions, and you’ll know exactly which leak-proof panty suits you best.
A sustainable choice
With proper delicate care, leak-proof underwear for women can last 2 to 3 years. This depends on how often you wear and wash the anti-leak underwear. Besides the long lifespan of our menstrual underwear, it’s also an environmentally friendly and cost-effective choice.
By using 5 pieces of our leak-proof underwear during your menstruation over a period of 2 to 3 years, you’ll save about €150 to €200. On average, we spend €12.05 per month on pads or tampons (research, see article of the online magazine libelle). This also means you’ll avoid using around 250 to 300 disposable products per year.
Help someone with period poverty
Moodies donates 5% of all sold panties to De Sociale Kruidenier (part of De Voedselbank). Did you know that in Amsterdam alone, 25% of girls and women sometimes don’t have enough money to buy menstrual products?
With a few Moodies panties, you can help this person for a few years. So, with your purchase, you are assisting someone in great need!
How often should you change anti-leak underwear?
Just like every woman replaces her tampon or pad at different times, the frequency of changing your absorbent underwear will also vary per person. We follow a safe rule of thumb: on your light to medium days, you can wear our leak-proof underwear for 8 to 10 hours. At the end of the day, it’s best to put on a fresh pair before going to bed. However, we can understand that it’s also nice to change more frequently, for example, when you come home from school or work and just before going to sleep.
It’s smart to have multiple pairs in your wardrobe. Keep around five to seven pairs of our leak-proof underwear in your drawer to comfortably get through your period. This means you’ll need to wash your leak-proof underwear 1 to 2 times during your menstruation, depending on the length of your period.
For some days, it may be convenient to carry a clean menstruation panty in a handy waterproof storage bag, which you can also use to safely transport your used panty back home. You can wash the storage bag at 30 degrees as well. For girls and women with heavy periods, it might also be nice to combine wearing menstrual underwear with a cup or tampon.
Washing instructions for leak-proof underwear
Before use, wash your anti-leak underwear to activate the absorption. Just like with a new towel, you need to wash it first, or it won’t absorb properly. After wearing, wash the anti-leak underwear as follows:
Rinse the panty under cold water after use during menstruation.
#1 Rinse the panty until you no longer see any red color in the rinsing water. For incontinence use, rinsing is not as crucial, but it won’t hurt.
#2 If you wait to wash it, hang the panty over the edge of the laundry basket. Do not soak the panty in a bucket of water. This can affect its absorption capacity.
#3 Wash the panties at 30 degrees Celsius without fabric softener. Instead of fabric softener, you can use natural vinegar, which is also good for your washing machine.
#4 Dry the anti-leak underwear on a clothesline and never in the dryer. The heat from the dryer can damage the waterproof layer and reduce its effectiveness.
#5 Let the panties dry completely so they can absorb well again!
