Koken voor je cyclus afl 3: Griekse haverpannenkoeken (zomer/ ovulatie)

Cooking for your cycle episode 3: Greek oat pancakes (summer/ovulation)

In this series, we'll take you through the 4 phases of your menstrual cycle and show you how to calm binge eating in each phase with tasty recipes. This series was created by our intern Ilayah, under the revision of Orthomolecular Therapist Marlon Haandrikman .

The summer of your cycle, the ovulation phase , is a time of fertility and flowering. It's a time when your body prepares to welcome new life, and it's also a time when you often feel your best, full of energy and radiant with confidence.

During the ovulation phase, the level of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in your body peaks, resulting in the release of an egg from your ovaries. This egg is ready to be fertilized and begins its journey through the fallopian tube to the uterus. At the same time, your estrogen levels peak, causing the uterine lining to thicken to create an ideal environment for a fertilized egg to implant.

It is in this phase that many people experience an increase in energy and vitality. You feel radiant, full of charisma and self-confidence . Your libido may be reaching its peak, making this time particularly suitable for romance and intimacy. Communication skills seem sharper, making it a perfect time for social interactions, perhaps even an exciting first date.

In terms of nutrition, it is advisable to choose fiber-rich food and fewer carbohydrates during the ovulation phase . This can help maintain your energy levels and support your digestion. And with that increased energy you'll likely be able to exercise a little more intensely, so go for it and enjoy the boost you get from your natural cycle.

With that in mind, today we share this wonderful:

Recipe for Greek oat pancakes!

What do you need for this:

  • 2 spoons of Greek yogurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pack of baking powder or half a pack of baking soda
  • a pinch of salt
  • a capful of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • almond milk
  • blueberries

Greek yogurt contains proteins that are essential for the construction and repair of tissues.

Oatmeal flour contains fiber that can help regulate blood sugar levels.

Blueberries have a low glycemic index, which means they are broken down slowly and keep blood sugar levels stable. This can help prevent peaks and valleys in blood sugar levels, which is beneficial for hormone balance.

Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix until well combined!

Tip : If your batter is too watery, add some flour and if it is too thick, add some extra milk. When the pancakes are baked, you can eat them with icing sugar and butter or syrup. Enjoy your meal!
