Good fit prevents leaks
It's important that menstrual swimwear fits well. Both the crotch and the outer fabric play a role in absorbing moisture and preventing leaks, allowing you to move freely in and around the water.
You can read more about swimming and menstruation in our blog .
layer 1 - mesh
The crotch is made of a special mesh fabric that absorbs and locks in leaks and odors . This mesh fabric also has a water-repellent layer that prevents moisture from entering the outer panties. The fabric is also treated with an antibacterial wash, making it hygienic and odorless.
layer 2 - PU
The second layer is a water-repellent fabric (polyurethane) that ensures that you do not leak.
outer fabric
Our period swimwear bikini bottoms are double-lined so you can't see the gusset on the outside. This ensures your bikini feels comfortable and secure, both in and out of the water.
frequently asked questions about period swimwear
How long can you wear period swimwear?
You can wear your menstrual bikini bottoms for over four hours during an average period. If you're unsure, bring an extra pair in a storage bag so you can keep the used ones until you get home.
How do I wash period swimwear?
Wash the bikini bottoms before using them.
Rinse the panties after use when you get home. If you rinse them thoroughly, you don't need to wash them daily. If you do, consider using a small amount of detergent and letting them dry thoroughly. After 2 or 3 days, wash them at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. Do not use fabric softener and do not tumble dry. See the washing instructions for more information.
Is there also menstrual swimwear with higher absorption?
Our menstrual swimwear line offers two different absorbencies . The light, Dfeze absorbs 5 ml, which is equivalent to one tampon. We also recently added the medium-heavy absorbency. These briefs absorb 13 ml, which is equivalent to two to three tampons.
I'm between two sizes, which one should I choose?
It's important that it fits well around the buttocks and groin. If you're unsure about the size, it's better to buy a slightly smaller size rather than a slightly larger one.
Safe fabrics and OEKO-TEX certified
The antibacterial wash uses RUCO-BAC©. This is a rigorously tested biocide used to kill bacteria. This protects the skin and mucous membranes from inflammation and infection, and prevents unpleasant odors. This wash is permanent and harmless to the skin. Moodies offers many styles of menstrual swimwear for both women and girls .
And because every period and every body is different, we recommend wearing your moodies on a relaxing day at home for the first time to experience how long they work for you.
All layers are OEKOTEX© certified, which means that the product is produced in an environmentally and human-friendly manner and therefore does not contain PFAS.
washing instructions for menstrual swimwear
to rinse
Rinse! After wearing your moodies, rinse them under the tap or take them with you in the shower before putting them in the wash. Don't soak them! Then hang them on the edge of the laundry basket until you wash them again. If you rinse them thoroughly, you won't need to wash them every time. Just do this after 2 or 3 uses.
30 degrees was
Wash at a maximum temperature of 30°C . Along with your other laundry. Use regular detergent or eco-friendly detergent, but no fabric softener (note that most laundry pods also contain fabric softener). Instead of fabric softener, you can use organic vinegar. Spin-drying is no problem.
to hang
Do not tumble dry . Hang your panties to dry. Do not tumble dry your moodies, as this can damage the technical fabrics in the gusset.
maintenance
Sometimes, after a few months (especially after a busy summer vacation 😉), your panties could use a thorough overhaul . This is also true if you occasionally notice your panties leaking more easily, or if you notice they're starting to smell a bit more.
A more thorough cleaning every three months will ensure that the Moodies last as long as possible , you can prevent unpleasant odors and everything stays hygienic and clean .
