women's period swimwear

Do you want to move freely in the water during your period? Our women's period swimwear catches spotting and light to medium menstrual flow via a thin, quick-drying layer in the crotch, with a water-repellent outer layer so your bikini, swimsuit or shorts don't soak through.

Available in three absorption levels (light, light-medium, medium-heavy) and sizes XXS to 3XL.

frequently asked questions about women's period swimwear

What is the difference between period swimwear and period underwear?

The main difference lies in the layers: period swimwear is water-repellent and suitable for swimming, whereas period underwear absorbs much more fluid but soaks up water.

Period swimwear consists of two layers, one of which is a thin, quick-drying PU layer that catches light spotting and remains water-repellent, thus keeping water out.

Period underwear has multiple absorbent layers (like terry cloth) and can absorb the equivalent of 1 to 6 tampons of fluid. This makes it ideal for daily use, even on heavier days, but not for swimming.

Does period swimwear work on my heaviest flow days?

Moodies period swimwear is available in two different absorbencies:
Light-medium: this holds 1-2 tampons (7ml).
Medium-heavy: this holds 2-3 tampons (13ml).

The absorbency is described per product.

For heavy periods, we recommend putting on the briefs just before swimming and changing them after swimming. You can also combine the briefs with a menstrual cup.

do you see the absorbent cross from the outside?

No, the absorbent layer is not visible on the outside. Inside the period swimwear, there is a thin, fast-absorbing layer in the gusset that catches spotting and light period flow as soon as you get out of the water, while the water-repellent exterior prevents the swimwear from soaking up water. The snug fit around the legs ensures everything stays in place, without bulky or visible layers. So, you won't notice it even in a tight bikini or swimsuit.

Does period swimwear stay in place during active swimming?

Yes, thanks to the close-fitting, stretchy material, menstrual swimwear stays in place during active swimming. A good fit around the buttocks is particularly important, to prevent any gaps through which water or moisture could enter. If you're debating between two sizes, it's better to choose slightly smaller than slightly larger. A tighter fit provides the best protection.

How do you wash your period swimwear?

After rinsing with cold water, your period swimwear can simply be machine washed at 30 degrees Celsius. You don't need to use fabric softener and can air dry them after washing. The bottoms dry very quickly.
