washing instructions for menstrual underwear

to wash

Wash your moodies before wearing your moodies . This is very important. You can compare the absorbent fabric in the gusset with a towel: if you don't wash it, it won't absorb moisture.
to rinse

Rinse! After wearing your moodies, rinse them under the tap or take them with you in the shower before putting them in the wash. Don't soak them in water! Then hang them on the edge of the laundry basket until you wash them again.
40 degrees was

Wash at max 40º . Together with your other laundry. Use regular detergent or ecological detergent, but no fabric softener (Please note that most washing pods also contain fabric softener). Instead of fabric softener you can use organic natural vinegar. Spinning is no problem.
to hang

Do not put in the dryer . Hang your pants to dry. It is better not to put your moodies in the dryer because this can cause the technical fabrics in the crotch to lose their effectiveness.
maintenance

Sometimes, after a few months, your panties may need a thorough overhaul . This is especially true if you occasionally notice your panties leaking more easily, or if they're starting to smell a bit more.

A more thorough cleaning every three months will ensure that the Moodies last as long as possible , you can prevent unpleasant odors and everything stays hygienic and clean .

The Moodies Hipster has a classic fit that sits high on the hips and provides generous coverage at both front and back. The bamboo fabric is ultra-soft and breathable, keeping you comfortable all day.

The Hipster is available in moderate (2 tampons / 10 ml) and heavy (3–4 tampons / 18 ml), giving you the right protection for both normal and heavier period days.
how much does the Moodies Hipster absorb and how long does it protect?
The Hipster moderate absorbs approximately 10 ml (2 tampons) for 8–10 hours. The Hipster heavy absorbs 18 ml (3–4 tampons) for 8–10 hours.

Both versions work as standalone protection during the day and as comfortable night underwear for a lighter night flow.
what material is the Moodies Hipster made from?
The outer fabric is 95% bamboo viscose / 5% elastane — softer than cotton and more sustainable to produce. The absorbent gusset has three layers: a mesh top layer (94% polyester / 6% elastane), a terry cloth middle layer (100% polyester) and a PU leak-proof layer.

All layers are Oeko-Tex certified and contain no PFAS.
is the Moodies Hipster also suitable for light bladder leakage?
Yes. The Hipster moderate is also ideal for light bladder leakage, for example when sneezing or coughing. The absorbent layer sits exclusively in the gusset and is optimised for both menstrual blood and urine.

For regular bladder leakage during the day you may also want to consider the Everyday Hipster Lace, which is specifically designed for incontinence.
how does the Hipster differ from the Hiphugger and the Boyshort?
The Hipster sits higher on the hips and provides more coverage than the Hiphugger, and has a narrower waistband than the Boyshort. The Hiphugger is seamless and ideal under tight clothing. The Boyshort offers the most coverage of the three and extends further over the bottom.

Choose the Hipster if you want a classic, comfortable pair that isn't too visible under clothing.
how do I wash the Moodies Hipster correctly?
Rinse the underwear with cold water after use. Then machine wash at a maximum of 40°C with your regular laundry. No fabric softener, no bleach, no tumble dryer. Leave to air dry on the line.

Important: also wash the underwear before the first use — the absorbent layer only works optimally after washing.
what size Hipster should I order?
Moodies Hipsters are available from XS to 3XL. Sizes follow standard clothing sizes — order the same size as your regular underwear. Not sure? Check the size chart on the website based on your waist and hip measurements.

The Hipster heavy (3–4 tampons) is also suitable as night protection for a lighter night flow. For heavier night-time menstruation we recommend the Boyshort Heavy-overnight or the Seamless Highwaist Hiphugger, as the absorbent layer in those models extends at the back up to the waistband.
